Abstract
This study was based on the facts a that most students at Class VIII of State Junior High School 4 Batang Kapas had some problems in speaking.Their difficulties that the students’ face in speaking was caused by some factors came from themselves and also inappropriate strategy that used by English teacher. So that, the researcher used Inside Outside Circle Technique to solve the students’ problems in speaking. Inside Outside Circle Technique helped students to increase students’ vocabulary and comprehension. The purpose of this study are to found out Inside Outside Circle Technique gave significant effect towards students speaking skill at class VIII State Junior High School 4 Batang Kapas and what the component of speaking skill that could improve by Inside Outside Circle Technique. The design of the research was experimental research. The population was class VIII in 2018/2019 academic year. Students who were taught by the same teacher and consists of 92 students contributed into tree classes. The sample consists of 63 students contribute into two classes were chosen through cluster random sampling. The two classes were decided to be class experiment (VIII / 33 students) and class control (VIII / 32 students). The experiment class was taught Inside Outside Circle Technique, while control class was taught by using conventional technique. Both classes were taught by the same materials and teacher. The data of this research were collected by using speaking test. The test was given to both classes after doing the treatment. Then, post-test was given to find out the effectiveness of inside outside circle technique on students’speaking ability. 2 The research was analyzed by using statistic procedures, T- used to analyzed the students’ post test score. The data was analyzed by using simple regression with (0.05). the result of this research showed that mean score of students speaking in experimental class (76.09) is higher than the mean score of students’ speaking class (64.56). While, t- vi calculate test (5.14) is also bigger than t- (1.669). More ever, each components of speaking both of classes are different. It can be seen from the comparison of students mean score of posttest. Statistically, it is showed that teaching speaking significance by using inside outside circle technique gives significance on students speaking ability. It mean that hypotheses was accepted. It is concluded that Inside Outside Circle Technique can improve students’ speaking skill at class VII of State Junior High School 4 Batang Kapas. It is recommended that, the English teacher should determine the use of Inside Outside Circle Technique in teaching speaking. Then, for other researcher, it is suggested to carry out further studies about the use of inside outside circle in developing students’ speaking skill.
