Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ strategies for teaching integrated English language skills at MTsN 5 Padang. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with English teachers, and document analysis. The results indicate that teachers employ two main strategies, namely, scaffolding and fun game learning. Scaffolding is accomplished through the use of guiding questions, explanations, examples, and checks on student understanding, as well as feedback and corrections. Teachers apply fun game learning by using several group games that actively engage students in the learning process. The findings also indicate that listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills are integrated into classroom learning activities. Interviews and document analysis support the observational findings, particularly regarding the use of “Fun Game Learning” and the integration of these four English language skills. Therefore, the teachers’ strategies provide students with opportunities to practice all four English language skills in interconnected learning activities.
