Abstract
The purpose of this research was to find out whether or not Question Stories Technique gives significant difference towards students’ writing skill in narrative text and to find out components of students’ writing skill can be affected by Question Stories Technique at Class VIII of Junior High School 4 Hiliran Gumanti. The design of this research was Experimental design. The research was located at Junior High School 4 Hiliran Gumanti. The population was 120 students distributed in four classes. The sample was VIII 1 as experimental class and VIII as control class consisted of 60 students that had chosen through cluster random sampling. The data of this research was collected by using writing test. The researcher gave pre-test to the students to identify the students’ basic skill in writing and to know the prior students’skill in writing narrative text at the first meeting before doing the treatment. After doing the treatment for four meetings, that class was given post-test. 4 The result of this research showed that Question Stories Technique effected student’s skill on writing it can be see gain score of experiment and control class, the mean score of post-test in experimental class (23.04) was higher than post-test in control class (18.16) with difference 4.26. The calculation of the result of the test, it was indicated that t was 5.80 and t table was 2.000 with p = 0,05 and degree of freedom 58. So, it meant that t was higher than t (5.80>2.000) and the hypothesis was accepted. It is concluded that there is a significant difference between Experiment class and table control class is there any significant difference between the student’s taught by using Question Stories Technique and taught by Conventional Technique on class VIII of Junior High School Hiliran Gumanti. Statistically, it was showed that teaching writing by using Question Stories Technique improved students’ writing skill at Class VIII of Junior High School 4 Hiliran Gumanti. It is recommended to English teacher can use Question Stories in teaching writing, to improve students’ writing skill. For other researcher suggested to conduct Question Stories and the other technique in developing students’ writing skill at the different level of the students.
