Abstract
The goal of this research was to prove whether the Pow Tree Strategy gives significant effect on students writing skill at eleven grade State Senior High School 1 VII Koto Sungai Sarik or not. The study was experimental research. The method that was used quantitative method which meant the method and instrument involved numerical measurements and the statistical quantification was conducted. This research was conducted in State Senior High School 1 VII Koto Sungai Sarik that located in VII Koto, Kec.Sungai sarik, Kab. Padang Pariaman. The procedures of this experiment as follow, choosing the eleven grade as the population, taking two groups of the students as the samples, one as the experimental group and the other one as the control group, conducting real experiment and collecting data then the last one was analyzing the data. The data in this research was analyzed by using statistical procedures. T-test was used to analyze the students’ post-test scores. The data was analyzed by using simple regression with 5% (0.05). The result of this research showed that mean scores of students’ writing in post-test of experiment class (72.42) was higher than the mean scores of students’ writing in post-test of control class (64.83). While, t-calculate (8.25) was also higher than t-table (1.677). The component were mostly improve was content with significant different 5.72 and with comparison 22.84 (experimental class) and 17.16 (control class). In conclusion, the result of the research demonstrated that the implementation of Pow Tree Strategy was able to improve students’ writing skills and gave significant effect to experiment class.
