Abstract

This research is motivated by the gap between the demands of 21st-century learning, which emphasizes interactivity and student engagement, and the still- conventional learning practices at MTsN 4 Kuantan Singingi. This gap has resulted in low student interest in learning, particularly in English at MTsN 4 Kuantan Singingi. This study aims to determine the differences in English learning interests of eighth-grade students at MTsN Kuantan Singingi who use Genially media and those taught with conventional media. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research type. The study population was 95 students and the sample was 51 students. The data collection technique used a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS version 25 program through descriptive statistical analysis and the t-test. The results of this study are that the learning interest of students who follow learning through conventional media is lower compared to students who learn using Genially media with an average value of 40.08 in the control class and 53.88 in the experimental class with a t-test result of 0.000 (0.000 <0.05). These results indicate that the use of Genially media is able to increase students' interest in learning English compared to conventional methods at MTsN 4 Kuantan Singingi. Based on this conclusion, it can be said that the media is able to increase students' interest in learning English at MTsN 4 Kuantan Singingi.
