Abstract

The purpose of this study is to prove whether Demonstration Technique had positive impact on students’ speaking skill in procedure text at Islamic Junior High School 3 Pariaman. This research is a quantitative research using quasi-experimental research types with control group post-test only design. The population in this study were all class IX students at Islamic Junior High School 3 Pariaman in 2023/2024 odd semester. Sampling in this study was the Cluster Random Sampling technique, the class selected as the experimental class was class IX.5 and the control class was IX.3. The alternative hypothesis was there a positive impact of demonstration techniques on students’ speaking skill in procedure text at Islamic Junior High School 3 Pariaman. The null hypothesis was there a no positive impact of demonstration techniques on students’ speaking skill in procedure text at Islamic Junior High School 3 Pariaman. The findings of this study showed that the Demonstration techniques had a positive impact on students' speaking skills with an average post-test score of 74.71 for the experimental class, while the average post-test score for the control class is 53.53. it was proved by testing the hypothesis with SPSS version 26 that the data sig value 2-tailed of the independent sample test was 0.000. The ρ-Value (0.000) was less than the sig α (0.05), which indicates that the Ha was accepted and the Ho was rejected. Additionally, there is a significant difference between students who are taught the Demonstration Technique are higher than students who are taught by conventional technique. It indicates that there is a positive impact of demonstration techniques on students’ speaking skill in procedure text at Islamic Junior High School 3 Pariaman. This study recommends the teachers should motivate and stimulate to students by using teaching technique, by using the demonstration technique in order to activate the students and interested in learning English, because it influences student learning success.
