Abstract
This study analyzes the effectiveness of the Cake application in improving the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Sungai Aur. A quantitative quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test model was used, involving a control group. The population included all seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Sungai Aur, with 50 students sampled and divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through oral tests before and after the treatment. Results showed a significant improvement in speaking skills in the experimental group, with an average post-test score of 68.72 compared to 63.96 in the control group. Statistical analysis revealed a t-value of 2.160, exceeding the t-table value of 0.2787, indicating that the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. The study concluded that the Cake application is effective in improving vocabulary mastery and understanding of pronoun usage in speaking, as shown by the significant post-test improvement in these aspects in the experimental group. However, further development of the application may be necessary to improve overall speaking skills. Thus, Cake is a useful tool for enhancing vocabulary and pronoun usage in English-speaking skills.
