Abstract

The goal of this study was to determine whether there were any appreciable differences in how the Project-Based Learning method was used to teach English to students in grades VII at MTsN 1 Pariaman. The research questions in this study were addressed using quantitative methodologies. Sixty students participated in the study, and they were split into an experimental and a control class. Pre-test, post-test, and final project were used to collect the study's data. Independent t-test from SPSS 26 for Windows was used to evaluate the data from the pre-test and post-test. The study's findings, the result showed that the significant 2-tailed value of the independent sample test is 0.000 <0.05 show that the PjBL method revealed significance difference on students' speaking skill with mean value 43.8 to 53.10. Through PjBL the students’ average score of both groups different, especially in the aspect of grammar and comprehension. Additionally, according to an examination of the final project, that the PjBL method made it easier for them to comprehend the lesson, encouraged them to participate more actively and creatively in class, and helped them learn more in the project. It can be concluded that Project-Based Learning has a significant effect on students’ 4C skills in EFL Learning at IJHS 1 Pariaman.
