Abstract
The thesis is in the background by the current condition of Indonesia is facing a character crisis as a fundamental foundation for the development of national character. Various events that often take place in everyday life witnessed through TV or print media. Shows how society is experiencing a degradation of identity and a decline in the dignity of an impartial nation. Islamic education aims to shape the character of students, namely through educational media in the form of Islamic reading or reading that educates students to instill character. Writing media such as books or reading can be used as an effort to characterize students, one of them is through the biography novel Jejak Sang Pencerah by Didik L. Hariri. This novel has a lot of Islamic characters contained in the life history of K.H Ahmad Dahlan. So the formulation of the problem that the writer put forward is how is the Islamic character in the biography novel Jejak Sang Pencerah by Didik L. Hariri. While the limitation of the research problem is religious character, the character of tolerance, the character of the patriotism and the bold character in the biography novel Jejak Sang Pencerah by Didik L. Hariri. The general purpose of this study was to describe the Islamic character in the biography novel Jejak Sang Pencerah by Didik L. Hariri. The specific objectives of the research are to describe the religious character, the character of tolerance, the love character of the homeland and the courageous character. The theoretical benefits of the research are expected to provide valuable contributions to the cultivation of Islamic character through reading as one of the educational media. The practical benefits of this research can be useful for students, PAI Teachers, schools, Tarbiyah Faculties, subsequent researchers, and writers. This research is a library research research. The primary data source of this study is the biography novel Jejak Sang Pencerah by Didik L. Hariri and secondary data sources are relevant books relating to Islamic character. Data collection techniques are books that writer read. Data analysis techniques use content analysis techniques. The results of the study found that the Islamic character in the biography novel Jejak Sang Pencerah by Didik L. Hariri is as follows: (1) Religious character, namely the obedience of the character to religion in the implementation of worship with the characteristics of patience in holding anger, sincerity in worship and thankfulness to Allah. (2) Character of tolerance, namely accepting, respecting and respecting the opinions of others, differences in beliefs and not imposing others. (3) The character of patriotism is to make a big and positive contribution in building the nation's character and the State and the spirit to enlighten religious values into society (4) Brave character, namely the movement to uphold the truth and be brave in issuing ideas, ideas and opinions.
