Abstract

In learning narrative text, many students find it difficult to understand the text. That’s why researcher use CIRC method in this research. the purpose of this study was to determine whether CIRC method give significant effect toward students’ reading comprehension in narrative text (at eight grade of islamic junior school 1 Bener Meriah). The method in this research was used a quantitative method and the design is a quasi-experimental. The subject of this study was the students of eight grade class VIII.1 as experimental class and VIII.2 as control class, each class has 25 students totalling of 2 class is 50 students. To collect the data, researcher used pre-test, treatment and post-test, pre-test was given at first meeting, this test given to know students’ initial ability. The treatment at experiment class was teaching by CIRC technique for control class was teaching by traditional technique. At the end of treatment students were given the post-test. The researcher shows that CIRC method less significant effect toward students’ reading comprehension in narrative text, this proven by the mean of post-test experimental class was 55.12 its higher than the mean of control class was 42.96. from t-test, researcher found that the to was lower than tt, that is 0.54 > 1.677.
