Abstract
Teaching Strategy in using Media for Teaching Integrated Skills by teacher is an important tool to support the learning process. This study aims to investigate the media used by the teacher and the implementation carried out by English teacher to teach integrated skills. This research method is a qualitative descriptive research. Data were collected through observation during the teaching and learning process and interview with teacher. The subject of this research is an English teacher who teaches eighth grade at SMPN 1 Padang Panjang. These data were analyzed descriptively. From the overall finding, English teacher used nine types of instructional media, such as; PowerPoint, pictures, posters, videos, e-books, worksheets Whiteboards, LCD projectors and speaker. Teacher have different ways of implementing it, such as using LCD projectors and speaker as tools to display material. In addition teacher tend to used the same learning media for other topics because she didn’t have enough time to prepare it. Finally the result in this research that English teacher used various learning media for each English skill, namely listening, reading, speaking, and writing or what is called integrated. This implies that teacher must develop skills in using media that are more in line with learning objectives and student competencies.
