Abstract
An Analysis Of Textbook Entitled “Headline English 2” Published By Srikandi Empat Of Eight Grade Of Junior High School. Department Of English Tadris Faculty Of Tarbiyah And Teacher Training State Islamic University (UIN) Imam Bonjol Padang This research was motivated by the interest of researcher to examine textbooks quality used in junior high schools. The researcher wants to analyze the criteria for learning books with Tomlinson's theory, so the researcher decided to analyze the book ''Headline English 2'' published by Srikandi Empat for class VIII SMP. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The source of the data in this research is the textbook for SMP class VIII ''Headline English 2''. The instrument used is an observation checklist. The data is analyzed by matching the indicators of the instrument and the availability of the points in the Headline English 2. The results of this study are fifteen of sixteen categories of textbooks that have good quality based on Tomlinson's theory are met. Then from the basic skills of English, this book also fulfills the learning of four skills; Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. The conclusion of this research is the book ''Headline English 2'' meets the criteria of a good book based on Tomlinson's theory and also fulfills the mandatory skills that must be taught, namely Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Suggestions in this study for teacher that in order to fulfill diversity insight which is absent in “Headline English 2”, it is also suggested to the teachers to use other sources
