Abstract

This study presents the design and development of a web-based Decision Support System (DSS) for selecting recipients of the Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS) scholarship at SMAN 13 Padang, Indonesia. The scholarship selection process previously relied on a manual approach, which was time consuming and prone to errors, particularly when dealing with a large number of applicants and limited scholarship quotas. To address this issue, this research applies the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method to support multi criteria decision-making in a structured and objective manner. This system was developed using the Waterfall methodology and implemented as a web-based application to facilitate data management and automated calculations. The selection criteria include parents’ income, parents’ occupation, parents’ dependents, attendance records, and student activeness at school. System testing was conducted using Black Box Testing to verify functionality, while usability evaluation was carried out through User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The results show that the system is capable of generating accurate scholarship candidate rankings and effectively assists school administrators in making fair, efficient, and transparent scholarship selection decisions.
