Abstract

The development of information technology has had a significant impact on organizational administrative management, including Student Activity Units (UKM) in higher education institutions. The goods borrowing system at UKM UIN Imam Bonjol Padang is still conducted manually through direct communication and WhatsApp messages, resulting in miscommunication, unclear information regarding item availability, and difficulties in inventory record management. This study aims to design and develop a mobile-based goods borrowing information system to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of inventory management, borrowing processes, and item returns. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the Waterfall development model, which consists of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The system was developed using the Flutter framework and the Dart programming language. System testing was carried out using Black Box Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The results indicate that the mobile-based goods borrowing information system was successfully developed and is capable of providing real-time information on item availability, facilitating borrowing requests, validation processes, item returns, and the digital management of borrowing letter archives. Based on the UAT results, the system received excellent evaluations from users in terms of design, service quality, and efficiency. Therefore, the developed system can enhance the effectiveness of inventory management within UKM UIN Imam Bonjol Padang and simplify the goods borrowing process for UKM members through mobile devices.
