Abstract

This study aims to develop a web-based expert system for diagnosing sleep disorders in students using the Forward chaining method. The system addresses the lack of access to professional consultations due to cost, time, and stigma issues. Data were collected from literature reviews, Riskesdas reports, and interviews with psychiatrists and physicians. The Forward chaining method was implemented to analyze symptoms and match them with predefined rules in the knowledge base. The system was tested using black-box testing and evaluated for accuracy. Results showed an 90% accuracy rate in diagnosing sleep disorders ( out of 10 test cases matched expert diagnoses). The system provides an intuitive interface for users to input symptoms and receive diagnoses along with recommended solutions. This research highlights the potential of the Forward chaining method in creating accessible, cost-effective tools for early detection of sleep disorders. Recommendations include expanding the symptom database, optimizing algorithms, and integrating expert supervision for higher reliability.
