Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effect of 4/3/2 technique on the speaking fluency ability of students at MTsS Madinatul Munawwarah Bukittinggi. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design was used, where pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to both the experimental and control groups. The sample of this thesis was IX C as the experimental class and IX D as the control group. Cluster random sampling was used as the sampling technique in this thesis. The experimental group was taught using the 4/3/2 technique, while the control group was taught using the group discussion technique. A fluency test was used as the instrument for this thesis. The test was given before and after the treatment. The data were analyzed using a t-test. The result of the data showed a significant finding, with a p-value of 0.023, which is less than 0.05, meaning H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. The experimental group showed an increase of 17.43 points, with a mean score of 52.76, while the control group showed a decrease of 26.17 points with a mean score of 37.66. This indicates that the 4/3/2 technique is effective in improving students' speaking fluency.
