Abstract

This research based on researcher intention to analize English for Nusantara book which was published by Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi based on merdeka curriculum. This research is to find out the Suitability of Impressionistic and In-depth analysis of English Textbook entitled “English for Nusantara” Based on Cunningsworth theory. This research is a qualitative descrptive and focus on content analysis. The source of the data in this research is the textbook for SMP class VII ''English for Nusantara''. The instrument used is an observation checklist which is based on Cunningworth theory of Good textbook. The result of this study are; a) The impressionistic analysis shows that English for Nusantara textbook is suitable to be used by the school because it suitable with Cunningworth theory based on cover, content material, developable learning activities, organization of the book and layout., b) The in-depth analysis shows that English for Nusantara Textbook is suitable to be used by the school because it suitable with Cunningworth theory based on aims and approach, language contents and language skills. In conclusion, the content in English for Nusantara is suitable for seventh grade in Junior High School suitable based on Cunningworth theory.
