Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the use of inside outside circle technique on the speaking ability of grade IX students in MTSN 3 Padang City. The research method used is experimental quantitative research. The study population is all grade IX students of MTSN 3 Kota Padang for the 2023/2024 academic year consisting of 8 totaling 253 students. The sample in this study was 31 students of grade IX.8 as a control class and 32 students of grade IX.5 as an experimental class. Data was collected through pre-test and post-test speaking. The test is given to both classes on the same topic. Then, the post-test was given after five meetings of treatment to determine the effect of the inside-outside circle technique. The calculation of the final test score showed the influence of the inside-outside circle technique on the speaking ability of students with a T-obtained score of 3.161 greater than the t-table value of 1.995. And its significance is 0.05 which means that the hypothesis is accepted. This means that there is an influence of the inside-out circle technique on the speaking ability of grade IX students of MTSN 3 Padang City. So inside outside circle technique is recommended to be applied by teachers in the learning process to improve students' speaking ability.
