Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze and describe the implementation of English at Junior High School (SMPN) 7 Koto XI Tarusan in 2023/2024 academic year. There are several things to research, in namely; learning objective, curriculum, English learning process, teacher’s methods in teaching English. The type of the study is descriptive qualitative research. The data are derived from English teaching learning process, informant, and documents. There are three methods of collecting data, namely: observation, interview, and document. The process of analyzing data includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion or verification. It means that the research describes the reality phenomena in teaching learning process in classroom that become a focus of research. There are some happened in teaching learning English process in classroom. The result of the analysis of this research showed that the English teaching learning activities in classroom is running well enough in generally, but there are some activities made English process to be ineffective such as students’ motivation and lack of school facilities for English learning. Then, there were four methods were used by the teacher in teaching English at SMPN 7 Koto XI Tarusan, namely communicative language teaching, task based learning, audiolingual, and Grammar Translation Method. The teacher used those methods based on the students’ condition. The using of those methods is to encourage students in teaching learning process.
