Abstract

This study aims to describe The Effectiveness of Using Modified Flashcard in Teaching Speaking of Narrative Text at The Tenth Grade of MAN 1 Solok Plus Keterampilan.The method used is quantitative experimental research. The population of this research consist of all the tenth grade students’ in MAN 1 Solok Plus Keterampilan, consists of ten classes of 212 students. The sample of this research was 32 students in X.5 class as control class with picture series technique and 33 students in X.6 class as experiment class with modified flash card treatment. Data were collected through speaking pre-test and post-test. The test was given to both classes with the same topic. Then, post-test was given after doing the treatments for five meetings to know the effect Modified flash card technique. The calculation of post-test scores resulted there are any effect of applying modified flash card technique through students’ speaking ability with the result of t-value is 2,742 is >2,042 based on the critical value on the t-table. It means that there is a significant effect of modified flash card technique towards students’ speaking ability at class X at tenth grade of MAN 1 Solok Plus Keterampilan. So, modified flash card technique is recommended to apply by the teacher in learning process to increase the students’ speaking ability.
