Abstract

The Teachers’ Perception on Communicative Language Teaching at State Islamic Junior High School 4 Padang. Thesis. Undergraduate Program of Universitas Islam Negeri Imam Bonjol Padang This study aimed to find out the teachers' perception of communicative language teaching at State Islamic Junior High School 4 Padang. This was a descriptive quantitative research type. The data were collected using a questionnaire for five English teachers who taught at State Islamic Junior High School 4 Padang. The results showed that most of the teachers had a good understanding of the characteristics of communicative language teaching. With the average percentage of teachers who agreed on the six characteristics of communicative language teaching was 76%. Thus, it is expected that this study can encourage English teachers to use communicative language teaching methods in teaching English in the classroom. As recommended by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, this method can assist teachers in improving students' English skills at MTsN 4 Padang.
