Abstract
EFL Teacher’s Instruction Strategies In Teaching English At Junior High School 4 Padang Panjang. Thesis. English Education Program, Faculty of Education And Teacher Training. Islamic State University (UIN) Imam Bonjol Padang 2022. Interaction plays an important role in the EFL teaching and learning process. This study based on phenomena where the student’s motivation are low, the teacher’s teaching technique and the classroom athmosphere was less interactive. This research aims 1) to analyze how the EFL teacher at Junior High School 4 Padang Panjang conduct teacher-students interaction; 2) and to analyze what are interaction patterns that mostly used by the students. The theory used were by Walsh which divided interaction into four modes (Managerial, Skills and Systems, Classroom Context, and Material), and fourteen interactional features (Scaffolding, Direct Repair, Content Feedback, Extended Wait-Time, Referential Questions, Seeking Clarification, Confirmation Checks, Extended Learner Turn, Teacher Echo, Teacher Interruptions, Extended Teacher Turn, Turn Completion, Display Questions, Form-Focused Feedback). The research method is descriptive qualitative. The instrument used were classroom observation, interview, and document. The subject of this research was an EFL teacher at grade eighth. The data analyzed through Miles-Huberman: data reduction
