Abstract
This study is motivated by the psychological, social, and spiritual pressures experienced by female figures in Qur’anic narratives, accompanied by their ability to endure and recover from adversity. The stories of Maryam, Asiyah, Aisyah, and Queen Bilqis illustrate various forms of resilience that are relevant to be examined through both Qur’anic interpretation and psychological perspectives. This research aims to identify the forms of psychological pressure experienced by female figures in Qur’anic narrative verses and to analyze the aspects of resilience based on Reivich and Shatte’s theory. This research employs a qualitative approach using the thematic (maudhu’i) method of Qur’anic interpretation. The data were obtained through a literature study of Qur’anic verses related to the stories of Maryam, Asiyah, Aisyah, and Queen Bilqis, as well as the interpretations of exegetes. Psychological analysis was conducted using Reivich and Shatte’s resilience theory as the conceptual framework. The findings indicate that female figures in the Qur’an experience various forms of psychological pressure, including social pressure, inner conflict, and decision-making anxiety. In responding to these pressures, several aspects of resilience were identified, namely emotional regulation, impulse control, optimism, empathy, causal analysis, reaching out, and self-efficacy. These findings affirm that Qur’anic narratives of women contain values of psychological resilience that are relevant to contemporary women’s lives.
