Abstract
The purpose of this study was to see whether there was a significant effect of cue card on speaking skill at grade VIII MTsN 1 Padang Pariaman. The scope of the research is focused to teach Describing People by using cue card. The method of research is quantitative method, with quasi-experimental. The number of the sample in this research is 60 students in experimental and control classes. The sampling technique was chosen by using random cluster sampling. Samples of this research are VIII-2 and VIII-3 as the experimental and control classes. The experimental class was taught by using cue card and control class was taught without cue card. The instrument of this research was a speaking oral test. It was conducted after the students getting treatments. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 25. The mean score of the experimental class is 67.6 and the mean score of the control class is 54.8 (αρ< α (0.00 < 0.05) which mean H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Based on the data above it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using cue card on speaking skill at grade VIII MTsN Padang Pariaman. This means that the cue card is effective for improving students' speaking skill.
