Abstract

Predicting on-time graduation is a significant challenge in higher education systems aimed at improving academic efficiency and optimizing educational resources. This study aims to develop a model for predicting on-time graduation using the Naive Bayes method, a classification technique that is simple yet effective for handling probabilistic data. The model utilizes historical student data, including variabels such as parental income, GPA, and the number of credits taken by students. The Naive Bayes method is used to calculate the probability of on-time graduation by assuming that each factor influencing graduation is independent of the others. The method classifies students into two categories: on-time graduates or late graduates. The evaluation results show that the Naive Bayes method provides adequate accuracy in predicting graduation outcomes, with a high success rate in classifying students based on the available dataset. This study is expected to contribute to the development of better strategies to assist students in achieving on-time graduation and to provide valuable insights for academic institutions in designing policies and programs that support student success.
