Abstract

In the academic world of higher education, a thesis signifies the culmination of a student's academic journey. Currently, the management of final assignments for postgraduate students at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang is still conducted manually, presenting significant challenges. This administrative process requires students to be physically present on campus to fill out physical forms. Spreadsheets remain the main tool for accessing schedule information and determining examiners. Although spreadsheets offer flexibility and ease of access, their use continues to encounter various hurdles. This research aims to design and develop an information system for the administration and scheduling of final assignment exams to streamline operations, data collection, and information dissemination. The system was developed using the Waterfall methodology, encompassing stages such as requirements analysis, system design, coding, implementation, and testing with the Black Box Testing method. The system was built using native PHP programming, JavaScript, and MySQL. Testing results indicated that the system operates well and complies with the predetermined specifications. No errors were found during the testing process, indicating that the system has precisely met all functional requirements. User Acceptance Testing results also revealed that respondents rated the system as highly satisfactory. Additionally, this research contributes theoretically to the development of web-based systems for the administration of final assignments and the scheduling of student exams in a university environment.
