Abstract

ABSTRAK Novi Oktafani, 2018. Pengaruh Round Table Teknik Terhadap Kemampuan Menulis Siswa Kelas X SMA N 5 padang Pembimbing : 1. Dr. Besral, S.Pd, M.Pd 2. Hidayat Al-Azmi, M.Pd Kemampuan siswa untuk menuangkan ide kedalam bentuk tertulis masih lemah. Mereka tidak tahu dari mana memulai menulis. Mereka merasa sulit dalam mengembangkan ide mereka kedalam bentuk tulisan. Mereka tidak tau darimana mereka harus memulai menulis dan mereka kesulitan untuk mengembangkan ide kedalan bentuk kalimat. Ketika guru meminta mereka untuk membuat sebuah text recount, hanya beberapa siswa yang mengerti tentang text recount. Hasil tugas mereka dalam text recount tidak terlalu memuaskan. Beberapa dari mereka masih memiliki kesulitan dalam menggunakan grammar secara benar. Mereka juga masih kurang dalam menguasai penggunaan kosa kata. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian experiment yang mana di disain dengan posttest only design group yang berlokasi di SMA N 5 Padang. Poulasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X MIPA SMA N 5 Padang yang terdiri dari 204 siswa dan dibagi dalan 6 kelas (X MIPA1, X MIPA2, XMIPA3, X MIPA4, X MIPA5, X MIPA6). Peneliti mengambil kelas X MIPA 5 ( kelas eksperimen) yang terdiri dari 35 siswa dan kelas X MIPA 1(kelas kontrol) yang terdiri dari 35 siswa sebagai sampel. Test (post-test) untuk kelas eksperimen diajarkan dengan teknik Round Table selama 6 kali pertemuan dimana murid-murid dibagi dalam beberapa kelompok untuk memunculkan ide, berbagi pendapat dan memperbaiki atau merivisi text recount yang mereka miliki. Test (post-test) untuk kelas kontrol diajar menggunakan teknik konvensional selama 6 kali pertemuan. Selanjutnya, data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan test tertulis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan rata-rata nilai kelas eksperimen adalah 77.285 dan lebih tinggi dari kelas control yaitu 69.971(t- calculate 3.729 lebih tinggi dari t-table yaitu 2,000. Artinya teknik Round table dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa. Itu terbukti dengan melihat perbedaan nilai rata-rata dari seluruh komponen dengan atau tanpa mengaplikasikan teknik Round Table. Dari hasil penjelasan diatas dapat disimpulkan bahwa dengan menggunakan teknik Round Table dapat memberikan pengaruh yang signifikanTerhadap kemampuan menulis siswa. peneliti menyarankan teknik ini untuk dapat diaplikasikan dalam pembelajaran writing. Hidayat Al-Azmi, M.Pd Students’ ability to produce their mind into the written form was still weak, as a result. They got difficulty in turning their ideas into the written form. They did not know where they wanted to start their writing and they felt difficult to develop their ideas in make sentences. When the English teacher asked them to write a recount text, only few of them understood the recount text. The result of their assignment of recount text is not satisfactory. Some of them still have difficulties in using correct grammar. They also had low vocabulary mastery. The research is experimental Research which was design by posttest only design groupthat is located at SMA N 5 Padang. The population of this research was all of class X MIPA students’ of senior high school 5 Padang that consist of 204 students and divided into six classes (X MIPA1, X MIPA2, XMIPA3, X MIPA4, X MIPA5, X MIPA6). The researcher took class X MIPA5 (experimental class) that consist of 35 students and class X MIPA1 (control class) as sample. The test (post-test) for experimental class was thought by Round Table for six meetings where the students are divided into several groups to generate idea, share opinion and revise their own text. The test (post-test) for control group was thaught trough conventional technique for six meeting also. Then, the data of this research were collected using written test. The result of this research showed the mean score of experimental class was 77.285 and higher than contorl class that is 69.971 (t- calculate 3.729 is higher than t-table 2,000). It means that Round Table technique improved students’ writing ability. It was proved by the differences of mean score of all components with or without applying Round Table technique. From the explanation above it can be concluded that the use Round Table technique can give significant effect towards students’ writting ability. The researcher suggests that this technique can be implemented in teaching writing.
