Abstract

Athaya Fatihah Syauqiyah. 2024. Content Analysis of English Textbook Entitled” English for Change” For Senior High School Students Grade XI Used in Merdeka Curriculum. Thesis. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. English Tadris Department. Institute of Islamic Education and Teacher Training. State University of Imam Bonjol Padang. This research is based on researcher to analyzing the English textbook with the title “English for Change” book which was published by Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi based on merdeka curriculum. This research is to find out how does the material quality and how does the material suitability in the internal evaluation and overall evaluation In-depthanalysis based on McDonough and Shaw theory.This research is a qualitative descrptive research method and collecting data from textbook and the other book, journal or article, encyclopedia that related to this research and main focus on content analysis. The source of the data in this research is the textbook for SMA class XI ''English for Change''. Instrument used is the researcher itself and an observation checklist which is based on McDonough and Shaw theory of Good criteria textbook. The result of this study are : a. Material quality based on the criteria of internal evaluation, all chapters in English textbook from chapter 1 until 5 are 100% it means that material quality in every chapter are in a good criteria based on McDonough and Shaw theory. b. Material suitability based on Merdeka Belajar curriculum, all chapters in English textbook from chapter 1 until 5 are 100% it means that material suitability in every chapter are follows Merdeka Belajar curriculum rules.All materials in every chapter suitable with CP (Capaian Pembelajaran) and learning objective / TP (Tujuan Pembelajaran). In conclusion, English textbook Entitled “English for Change” for eleventh grade student’s is feasible to use in Senior High School level.
