Abstract
This research aims to determine the types of reading comprehension questions using H. Douglas Brown's theory and the components of reading comprehension questions contained in English textbooks for the eleventh grade of the Senior High School in the Merdeka curriculum. In H. Douglas Brown's theory, there are six types of reading comprehension questions: 1. Multiple choice, 2. Matching, 3. Editing, 4. Picture-cue, 5. Short Answer, and 6. Fill in the Gaps. There are four components to reading comprehension questions: Determining Main Idea, Understanding Vocabulary, Making Inferences, and Detailed Information. A qualitative descriptive research design was used in this research. The researcher examined all the reading comprehension questions in this textbook and used tabular analysis to classify them by type and component. The collected data is then calculated into frequencies for each type of reading comprehension question. The results obtained were that there were 16 reading questions, with the frequency of reading question types, namely: Multiple choice 3, Matching 2, Editing 3, Short Answer 5, and Gap-filling 3. This means reading comprehension questions in English. The textbook "Bahasa Inggris Tingkat Lanjut” is dominated by questions with short answers. And the reading comprehension component is found in the story of the legend of the sacred stone. Each paragraph has 4 components, namely main idea, vocabulary, inference, and detailed information.
