Abstract
The purpose of this research was to analyze the manifestation of Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) and Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) in the students‟ exercises presented on the worksheet entitled English for creative student. This research focused on finding how LOTS and HOTS are implemented on the exercises which are stated on the worksheet. This research was under qualitative study especially content analysis. The data collecting technique used in this study was documentation analysis. The document which was used in this study was English Worksheet entitled English for creative student. The objects of this research are LOTS and HOTS item exercises in English Worksheet English for creative student on chapters I- VII. Technique of analyzing the data was Interactive mode proposed by Miles and Huberman which involve data reducing, data display, and drawing conclusion. The research findings showed that the exercises of the worksheet contained both LOTS and HOTS exercises with different percentage. LOTS dominated the exercises with the percentage 55.6% which covered 37.7% C1 (remembering), 6.2% C2 (understanding), and 11.7% C3 (applying). On the other hand the percentage of HOTS was 44.4 % which covered 8.6% C4 (analysing). It can be concluded that the exercises on the English Worksheet entitled English for creative student was dominated by LOTS. Keywords: Reading Exercise, Test Based on Hots and Lots
