Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out The Effectiveness of “Gallery Walk Technique” Towards Students' Speaking Ability at Eight Grade of Mtsn 2 Padang Pariaman in transactional texts. Gallery walk is a learning technique which is assisted by using media such as flipcarts to present the material, then the way to use this technique is by sticking the gallery on the blackboard and students will walk in front of the class with their respective group. This research used experimental research, which is categorized as quasi- experimental with a post-test only. The population of this study was the eighth-grade students of MTsN 2 Padang Pariaman. The total sample was 56 students which classified into two classes, experimental and controlled class. The sample was chosen through cluster random sampling. The primary instruments of this study were speaking test. The data from both tests were analyzed in normality and homogeneity by using SPSS 29, then the researcher analyzed the t-test by using formula. The result of mean score in the post-test revealed a significant difference between two classes. The experimental class got 75.64 while controlled class got 67.54. The test of hypothesis showed that that t calculate is bigger than ttable , t calculate = 6,126 and ttable = 2,0048. It means the hypothesis was accepted. So, it can be proved that the using of gallery walk technique was effective on students’ speaking ability on teaching instructional text of eight grade at MTsN 2 Padang Pariaman.
