Abstract
This research aims to determine the types of reading questions and analyze the levels of reading questions contained in the "Work in Progress" textbook for the tenth grade of Senior High Schools in the Merdeka curriculum using Andersov and Krathwohl's taxonomy theory. There are six types of reading questions, namely: 1. comprehension; 2. detail questions; 3. following directions questions; 4. main idea questions; 5. inferen; and 6. sequence. In Anderson and Krathwohl's taxonomic theory, there are six distribution levels, namely: C1 remembering, C2 understanding, C3 applying, C4 analyzing, C5 evaluating, and C6 creating. Levels C1-C3 are categorized as LOTS, while levels C4-C6 are categorized as HOTS. A qualitative descriptive research design was used in this research. The researcher examined all the reading questions in this textbook and used tabular analysis to classify them by level of thinking. The collected data is then calculated into percentages and frequencies for each level of thinking in question. The results obtained were that there were 87 reading questions, with a percentage of reading question types, namely: comprehension 55.2%, detail questions 6.8%, following directions questions 26.4%, main idea questions 4.6%, conclusions 3.5%, and the order of 3.5%. As for the distraction level data from reading questions, namely, LOTS is 46%, with C1 remembering 20%, C2 understanding 8%, and C3 applying 18%. as for HOTS, 54%, with details of C4 analyzing 16%, C5 evaluating 31%, and creating 7%. This means that the reading questions in the "Work in Progress" textbook are dominated by higher-level thinking abilities.
