Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the existence of digital literacy is in Man 2 Padang. We are entering a digital time in which digital platforms that offer effectiveness and great impact on teaching and learning process become instrumental. Education ministry of Indonesia introduced Batik movement (tick-based learning) in 2017 to respond the advancement of digital technology. Traditional teaching and learning process that used to be based on printed media slowly moves into digital arrangements. The situation promotes the existence of digital literacy. According to AMEP Digital Literacies Framework and Guide, digital literacies are defined as purposeful and critical practices involving multimodal reading, writing, creating, communicating and viewing with digital technologies. MAN 2 Padang has been appointed to be a model school for transforming from traditional teaching media into the use of digital technology. Therefore, this research tries to elicit pictures of what and how digital literacy being practiced at that school. This research method is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques by way of observation, interviews and documentation. Data is processed using thematic analysis techniques. The results found that there are 3 types of digital media grouping themes, namely applications, power points and websites. Applications consisting of Google Lens, QR code, WhatsApp, WhatsApp Web, Google Translate, Instagram, Canva, Digital Residentity, Digital Report. The uses and constraints faced by each teacher and student are different. In terms of the theory of Beetham, Littlejohn, and McGill which mentions the seven components of digital literacy and Man 2 Padang is said to be good in digital literacy because the seven components of digital literacy are fulfilled.
