Abstract
The thesis entitled “The Effects of Think Pair Share Technique to Students’ Reading Comprehension in Narrative Text at SMAN 4 Padang” written by Perawati 1814050033 from English Tadris department at State Islamic University Imam Bonjol Padang, 2023. The background of writing this thesis is to know the empirical evidence about the use of the Think Pair Share technique to students’ reading comprehension in narrative text. This research used experimental research, which is categorized as quasi- experimental with a post-test only. The population of this study was all students of SMAN 4 Padang, with the research sample being tenth grade science 1 (X MIPA 1) and tenth grade science 2 (X MIPA 2). The research data was collected using a narrative test. Based on the hypothesis test, it was found that the significant value in the experimental class and control class was sig. 0.000. Based on the t-test criteria, if the significant value < 0.05 or tobserved > t-table, then the hypothesis is accepted. It is known that the significant value is 0.000 < 0.05 and tobserved (6.430) > t-table (1.690). This means that the hypothesis is accepted. Thus, the use of the Think Pair Share technique improved students’ reading comprehension.
