Abstract

Analysis Of Teacher Strategies In Teaching Efl To 11th Grade Students At Vocational High School 1 Solok-Selatan Researcher observed teacher in teaching strategies, for EFL teacher in Vocational High School, especially English teacher at Vocational High 1 Solok-Selatan. The purpose of this research is : 1) To describe learning strategies used by EFL teacher in teaching English in the classroom, 2) To describe the constraints factors in implementing these strategies. Researchers used qualitative descriptive. This method reveals or explains the circumstances, conditions, situations, events, and other activities reported in the research. The subject of this research is the English teacher of Vocational High 1 Solok-Selatan. The sampling method is cluster sampling. The research tools used were observation and interview. The researcher collected data by observing the teaching and learning process, conducting interviews, and recording some important data to support this research. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data analysis, data presentation and conclusion drawing. This study identifies the teaching strategies used by one of the EFL teacher in teaching English at Vocational High School 1 Solok-Selatan, namely: 1) Teacher used games, 2) Teacher used role-play, 3) teacher used pair work, 4) teacher used lecture strategy. Teacher use this strategy for several reasons, including: 1) Students are exited when giving a game at the beginning of the lesson, 2) Role play encourages students to talk a lot, 3) Pair work encourages students to explore ideas together, 4) Lecture strategy used by teacher to explain about the material being studied. In addition, there are also several factors that constraints the implementation of the strategy, namely : Limited time, lack of learning media and lack of students motivations in learning English.
