Abstract

Analysis Of Teacher Technique In Teaching Speaking AtGrade 10th At Senior High School 1 Lengayang.English Tadris Department Faculty Of Tarbiyah And Teacher Training State Islamic University (UIN) Imam Bonjol Padang The purpose of this study was to determine the techniques used by English teacher in teaching speaking to 10th grade at SMAN 1 Lengayang. This research design is a qualitative research. The subject of this research is an English teacher at SMAN 1 Lengayang. The research instruments were observation sheets and interviews to collect data. The results of the study found several techniques used by English teacher in teaching speaking. There are some techniques used by the Tenth grade English teacher at Senior high School 1 Lengayang which are used in teaching speaking skills, Drill technique, role play, dialogue, report, discussion, brainstorming, simulation. But the most effective technique used by the teacher is drilling technique. In teaching this technique, the teacher does not teach based on lesson plans and syllabus.The technique is effective in teaching speaking because it can help students to improve their speaking skills. In short, the techniques used by the teacher can solve students' speaking problems and make it easier for the teacher to explain the learning material. Drill technique is the command that is mostly applied by teachers in teaching speaking, then followed by report and discussion techniques, 70% drill technique is done by teacher in teaching speaking, and 20% dialogue technique, then 10% report technique. applied by teachers in teaching speaking, in addition 10% of discussion techniques and 10% of role playing techniques are carried out by teacher in speaking activities in class. Teacher can find out how far their students understand what the teacher has given them, so it can be concluded that the teacher has succeeded in applying this technique in the classroom.
