Abstract

ABSTRACT Marisa Putri, 1314050854. The Effectiveness of Picture Word Inductive Model Strategy toward Students’ Writing Skill on Recount Text at Class VIII of State Junior High School 6 Gunung Talang The purpose of this research was to find out whether the Picture Word Inductive Modelstrategy gives significance effect to students’ writing skill in recount text at class VIII of State Junior High School 6 Gunung Talang. The type of this research was experimental research. The population of this research was all of class VIII at StateJunior High School 6 Gunung Talang that consist of 104 students and who were divided into four classes. Class VIII A and VIII B as the sample of this research which were taken by cluster random sampling technique. In collecting the data, researcher used written test. In the first meeting, researcher gave treatment by using Picture Word Inductive Model strategy until fourth meetings to experimental class and taught control class with conventional one. After fourth meetings, the researcher gave writing test as post-test of recount text in both classes to find out whether Picture Word Inductive Model strategy is better than conventional one. SPSS used to analyze the data. The result of research showed that mean score of students’ writing in experimental class was higher than the mean score of students’ writing in control class While, t-calculate (3.017) was also bigger than t-table (2.007). Moreover, each components of writing had improved. It can be seen from the comparison of students’ mean scores of both experiment and control class. It can be concluded that teaching writing by using Picture Word Inductive Model strategy gave significant effect toward students’ writing skill in recount text and better then used conventional one. This improvement showed that the Picture Word Inductive Model strategy gave significant effect toward student writing especially in finding idea in writing recount text. key terms: Picture word inductive model, writing, recount text
